You could run a 5k.  I have done a couple in my lifetime and this one looks like great fun.  It is in Cary NC on Saturday March 4th.

"For over fifteen years the Paperhand Puppet Intervention has been creating original large-scale puppet extravaganzas complete with giant puppets, masks, shadow puppets, stilt dancing, painted flats, live music and more. Their unique story style tells myths from around the world and stories that inspire audiences of all ages."

I love a good rodeo.  I especially enjoy the bull riding and the clowns.  This looks like a good one and it is for one day only on March 4th.  Here si what they have to say on their site...
"Fans of all ages can enjoy edge-of-your-seat action, eight seconds at a time at Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo. The night will feature fan-favorite events: bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding with the top two riders competing a second time in the thrilling “Winner Take All Showdown Round,” as well as women's barrel racing."

This looks like fun.  You get the opportunity to drive a train.  It is pricy I think $160.00 but it would be a fun experience.  Click the link above for more detail...

I would love to see this.

A Visti to Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen in Raleigh NC

It has been a while since I have visited a new restaurant.  I did a google search and came up with Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen in Raleigh NC.  Sounded wonderful so I called Cindy and off we went on a restaurant adventure.  Here is a quote from their website.... "A refined take on traditional Southern cuisine. That's the essence of Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen, our onsite restaurant in the heart of Raleigh's vibrant downtown. Executive Chef Michael Rigot's seasonal menus feature the freshest, healthiest produce and meats, all from local North Carolina farms. A main dining room, private dining room, and outdoor patio provide an abundance of seating options. Craft beers, uncommon cocktails, and premium wines head the liquid refreshment line-up."
The restaurant itself is located in downtown Raleigh in Raleigh Marriott City Center. The Bar was lovely.  The night we were there it was packed.  Lively place to be. They brought this lovely platter to our table, they call i…

Interesting NC Tidbits...The Town of Buffalo NC is at the Bottom of Lake Lure.

A few weeks ago I took a trip to beautiful Lake Lure located in my state of NC.  Little did I know that there was a town called Buffalo under the Lake Lure waters.

I met a lady at a local restaurant that told me the town remains as it was, completely preserved under the water, an underwater ghost town.  On the Lake Lure pontoon boat adventure I took, I was told that Buffalo was burned to the ground just prior to the flooding.

I went online to see what facts I could find about the town of Buffalo. Buffalo was a farming and mining community.  The population was approximately 150 people.  There was a church called Whiteside Valley Church of 1918 that had about 98 members.

The dam was built to generate electricity in the early 1900's, and just after the completion of the dam the town was flooded.    From what I could find online much of the town was torn down and relocated as were parts of the church.  The graves in the small graveyard were relocated as well.  You can read more at Th…
