NCMA Exhibit: Inspiring Beauty 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair

We have a fantastic museum here in North Carolina.  The North Carolina Museum of Art or for short NCMA, in Raleigh NC. I went with a Meetup group to an exhibit called Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair. It is a beautiful and inspiring exhibit, and if you get a chance, I suggest you attend.  Here are a few photos from the event....
I love the detail in this dress.  Beautiful!

At the end of the event, they have a virtual fitting room.   Here you can scroll through and virtually try on several of the fashion items.   Such fun! Take advantage of the offerings of the museums in your area.   There is so much to see, do, and learn. Happy Travels and Adventures! The South Academy Street Mural in Downtown Cary North Carolina

As you know, I love murals.  I found this one on South Academy Street in Cary North Carolina.  I searched and searched to find the history behind this painting, but I had no luck.  In lieu of the history of the mural, I will give you a couple of historical notes from Wikipedia

"In 1750, Cary began as a settlement called Bradford's Ordinary.
Allison Francis "Frank" Page is credited with founding the town.  Page was a Wake County farmer and lumberman."

Executive Mansion in Raleigh and the Haunted Bed

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Executive Mansion in Raleigh for the 2017 Holiday Open House.  During this event the Governor's home, the first floor only, is open to the public.  The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
Since I have lived in NC, I have heard rumors that the mansion is haunted.  After my recent visit, I decided to do a bit of Google research to see what I could find on this topic. After reading several articles, this is what I found.  It is believed that Governor Fowle is the ghost of the Executive Mansion.  He was governor from 1889-1891.  While Fowle was residing in the mansion, he found his bed to be a bit small.  To remedy this, he had a larger bed made for himself.  He later would die in this bed. Years after Fowle's death his bed was removed from his bedroom.  That is when strange things began to happen.  Around 10 PM on most evenings there was a constant knocking on the wall located where Fowle's headboard would have been.  …
