Wine Wednesday-Let's Visit a NC Winery-tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro NC

Image
It's Wine Wednesday.  Let's visit a local winery.   Tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro, NC. Here is a quote from their website... "Imagine a place where serenity meets exhilaration, modesty meets magnificence, and exclusivity meets affordability." It is about an hour and twenty-minute drive from where I live in West Cary.  I like to drive, especially in the country, so the trip was a joy. Let's head in for a tasting... The tasting room is lovely.  I like the wood and the long bar.  It is a beautiful venue for a wine tasting. The wine tasting cost $20.00.  The range in wine prices that I found online was $24.99-$48.99. Another quote from the site... "This gorgeous facility boasts an all-wood interior that looks and smells amazing.   One cannot help but feel this is the perfect setting to taste new wines."  Here is a list of their wines.  Quote from the site... "Want to stay inside as close to the wine as possible?  Our live music an...

Join me for my Old Mill Farm Adventure in Durham, NC.  Yes, there are goats on the farm! Looking over the events on their website, I found they have both paid and free events, many with live music.  The day I was there,  Jason Bales  was the musical artist.  There was plenty of seating in which to sit back and enjoy the music. Travel-Millstone Creek Orchard in Ramseur NC.

Image
Several years ago, before the Covid Pandemic, I had a strong desire to visit an apple orchard.  Living in the triangle area of NC, I had heard of wonderful orchards in the mountains of NC, but I was not aware of any orchards near me.  I did some research and found an orchard about an hour from me in Ramseur, NC.  I gathered up Caleb and Maggie, and we went on a field trip to  Millstone Creek Orchard. Our first visit in 2019  was just before Covid hit, and we had a blast.  There was a playground area for the kids, a shop with apple-related food and goodies, and a hayride that took us out to see the vineyards where we could pick our own apples. I remember buying some apple cider and some apple cider donuts.  They were both delicious. Caleb was so excited about the donuts; they were fresh from the oven and seemed to melt in your mouth.   Last week Maggie, Caleb, and I were off to visit the zoo.  I knew we would pass by Millstone Creek Orchards, ...

Travel NC- Divine Llama Vineyards and Llama Trekking

Image
I have been talking about visiting  Divine Llama Vineyards  for years.  I knew there were llamas and wine, so it had to be a fun place for a new adventure.  The vineyard is located in East Bend, NC.  This was about a two-hour drive from where I live, so I decided it was close enough for a day trip.  The vineyard was started in 2007. It is Yadkin Valley had they have award-winning wines.  They are situated on 91 acres.   I enjoyed two glasses of Chardonel wine. I had to look up what this was, and this is what I found on Wikipedia. "Chardonel is a late-ripening white wine hybrid grape which can produce a high-quality wine with varietal character. ... It is distinguished by its superior wine quality combined with high productivity and cold hardiness superior to its acclaimed parent Chardonnay." You could see Pilot Mountain from the Vineyard. The Llama's I learned from their website that this is the largest llama farm in the southeast. It was a...

Places-The Cotton House Cary NC

Image
I have been to the  Cotton House  in Cary twice.  Once on a food truck night with Erica and Josh and another time with a friend. Their primary focus is beer but luckily for me, they have wine too, happy day. The venue is a historic home built in 1900. There is plenty of seating, both inside and out. I tried to find some information on this piece of sculpture, but I could not.  It is beautiful and extremely detailed.  I did see an old photo of the house, and it had a tall stump of a tree in the yard.  So I will assume that someone made a lovely carving out of the stump. Food Trucks and Mayton Inn The first time I visited the Cotton House, it was on an evening they had a food truck.   The truck for the evening was  The Humble Pig .  I ordered a BBQ plate, and it was delicious.  They also partner with the  Mayton Inn  that is right beside them.  You can place an order with the Inn, and they will brin...
