Another Broken Egg Cafe in NC

I was glad to hear they have opened a new restaurant in my area.  Another Broken Egg Cafe.  They serve breakfast and lunch.  It is opened 7am-2pm daily.  I have been 3 times since they opened.  I really enjoy both the decor the food and the service.

Here is what they say on their website....along with a couple of their photos...
"Another Broken Egg Cafe so unique. Since 1996, when our original Broken Egg Café opened in Old Mandeville, La., it’s been our passion to create exceptional dishes for breakfast, brunch, and lunch that are "craveably" delicious with an artisanal flair!"

Another quote...
"Established in 1996, Another Broken Egg isn't your typical breakfast, brunch and lunch place. Our menu is second-to-none, loaded with fresh ingredients and creative recipes across a wide variety of breakfast classics, memorable brunch dishes and lunchtime favorites. And each location is designed to feel like a casual getaway with a generous side of family, friends and friendly service. Much of our success can be linked to our philosophy that "Nothing Short of Right is Right.” Each restaurant is managed by hands-on owners who believe that every detail is important to make the customer happy. So from the time you enter the front door to the time you leave the Cafe, you should feel like you're on a relaxing vacation and as comfortable as you would be in your own home."

Erica and I decided to visit when they had a special menu for the day.  "Tastes of the Deep South"
They even paired the meal with a nice drink.  I had the Strawberry Lemonade Sparkler.  Yummy!
Erica had the Pinot Grigio.

Black Berry Crisp and Brie Waffle
Erica said it was great.
I had the Farmhouse Frittata.  Very good:-)

Another Broken Egg has six of their restaurants in NC.  Click on the link for locations..
I enjoy their breakfasts.  I will have to give their lunches a try.
So if you are looking for a nice cafe to enjoy breakfast or lunch
I suggest you try Another Broken Egg Cafe.  I think you will love it.
Happy Eating!

A Visti to Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen in Raleigh NC

It has been a while since I have visited a new restaurant.  I did a google search and came up with Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen in Raleigh NC.  Sounded wonderful so I called Cindy and off we went on a restaurant adventure.  Here is a quote from their website.... "A refined take on traditional Southern cuisine. That's the essence of Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen, our onsite restaurant in the heart of Raleigh's vibrant downtown. Executive Chef Michael Rigot's seasonal menus feature the freshest, healthiest produce and meats, all from local North Carolina farms. A main dining room, private dining room, and outdoor patio provide an abundance of seating options. Craft beers, uncommon cocktails, and premium wines head the liquid refreshment line-up."
The restaurant itself is located in downtown Raleigh in Raleigh Marriott City Center. The Bar was lovely.  The night we were there it was packed.  Lively place to be. They brought this lovely platter to our table, they call i…

One place Gale and I knew we had to visit was the bakery in Old Salem.  I have enjoyed the Moravian cookies over the years but everyone has told me I had to try the sugar cake.
Look at all the temptations....Yummy:-)

A bit of history....

The sugar cake was amazing.  We took it back to our room and enjoyed the yummy sweetness in front of the beautiful fireplace in our room.  We also shared a bottle of local wine.  What a lovely day:-)

Interesting NC Tidbits...The Town of Buffalo NC is at the Bottom of Lake Lure.

A few weeks ago I took a trip to beautiful Lake Lure located in my state of NC.  Little did I know that there was a town called Buffalo under the Lake Lure waters.

I met a lady at a local restaurant that told me the town remains as it was, completely preserved under the water, an underwater ghost town.  On the Lake Lure pontoon boat adventure I took, I was told that Buffalo was burned to the ground just prior to the flooding.

I went online to see what facts I could find about the town of Buffalo. Buffalo was a farming and mining community.  The population was approximately 150 people.  There was a church called Whiteside Valley Church of 1918 that had about 98 members.

The dam was built to generate electricity in the early 1900's, and just after the completion of the dam the town was flooded.    From what I could find online much of the town was torn down and relocated as were parts of the church.  The graves in the small graveyard were relocated as well.  You can read more at Th…
