Lunch at The Fearrington Granary in Pittsboro NC

Several weeks ago Cindy and I found ourselves on an adventure.  We were at Fearrington Village in Pittsboro NC.  I love that place.  If you go you will find quaint little shops, a bookstore, a spa, several places to eat, and of course the belted cows
We were visiting  Fearrington Village for the Folk Arts Festival.  After enjoying some of the artsy items and exploring the shops we decided it was time for lunch.  After checking our options we selected The Granary.
Here is quote from their website...
"Offering a casual dining setting, The Fearrington Granary serves up lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Whether you’re grabbing dinner with friends or celebrating a special event, make every meal a treat."

(They have a full bar and of course a wine list:-)
Quote from their site....
“The Granary is a neighborhood gathering place,” says Chef Colin Bedford, who designs and updates the menu seasonally. “The Granary’s menu is full of comfort food and Southern classics with English influence.”
Yummy muffins...
I ordered the Chicken and Dumplings.  Rich and delicious...
I was trying to remember what Cindy ordered.  I think this is the Pork Schnitzel.  I like the cute little pickles on top:-)
And of course don't forget the wine.....

If you find yourself in Pittsboro NC and you want a nice place to visit and grab a bite to eat I suggest you check out Fearrington Village.  For good food and atmosphere go to the Granary...you won't be disappointed.
Happy Eating and Exploring!

A Visti to Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen in Raleigh NC

It has been a while since I have visited a new restaurant.  I did a google search and came up with Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen in Raleigh NC.  Sounded wonderful so I called Cindy and off we went on a restaurant adventure.  Here is a quote from their website.... "A refined take on traditional Southern cuisine. That's the essence of Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen, our onsite restaurant in the heart of Raleigh's vibrant downtown. Executive Chef Michael Rigot's seasonal menus feature the freshest, healthiest produce and meats, all from local North Carolina farms. A main dining room, private dining room, and outdoor patio provide an abundance of seating options. Craft beers, uncommon cocktails, and premium wines head the liquid refreshment line-up."
The restaurant itself is located in downtown Raleigh in Raleigh Marriott City Center. The Bar was lovely.  The night we were there it was packed.  Lively place to be. They brought this lovely platter to our table, they call i…

One place Gale and I knew we had to visit was the bakery in Old Salem.  I have enjoyed the Moravian cookies over the years but everyone has told me I had to try the sugar cake.
Look at all the temptations....Yummy:-)

A bit of history....

The sugar cake was amazing.  We took it back to our room and enjoyed the yummy sweetness in front of the beautiful fireplace in our room.  We also shared a bottle of local wine.  What a lovely day:-)

Hiking The New Hope Overlook

I signed up for another Meetup group hike.  I never know what I am going to see on these hikes, I am always excited for the new adventure.  I grabbed my camera and headed toward Jordan Lake.  I will be quoting a site I signed up for AllTrails.com.  It's free.  If you are at all interested in area hiking trails you should check out the site.

"New Hope Overlook Blue Route is a 2.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Moncure, North Carolina that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash." AllTrails.com
Dogs are allowed on the trail. I did not take Brodie. The hikes are at a fast clip with this group so it may be difficult to drag him; literally along. Brodie and I go on 3-mile walks in our neighborhood. After about 3 miles he keeps looking at me as if to say "can we go home now?"  Ann was our fearless leade…
