Caleb and Nana's Adventures; Kudzu Children's Museum Chapel Hill NC

Caleb spent most of the week with me during his spring break last week.  The big question was what to do to get out of the house each day.   We decided to take local adventures.  We visited three museums in three days one of which was Kudzu Children's Museum at University Mall in Chapel Hill.  What a great place!

I like the artwork on display at the museum.  My favorite is the farm animal art.  It makes me smile. I would love to have that print hanging in the grandkids playroom!  I wonder if it is for sale?

The Book Nook is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good book.
They have a climbing wall that Caleb enjoyed scaling. Near the climbing wall, you will find a partial cow you can milk if you feel so inclined. The other half of the cow is at the entrance.

The Forest Theater was a hit.  Caleb spent a long time with his new friends producing and implementing a play.  It was exciting; there were dragons, knights, and battles.  Caleb is the dragon:-)
By the time we made our way to the Makery it was closing.  I would love to back and try our hand creating something interesting.  Here is a quote from the site..

There is a lot to see and do at the Kudzu Children's Museum.
I want to go back and take my 18-month-old granddaughter.  There is so much fun to enjoy for both the toddler and young elementary aged kids. 
I will definitely go back for a visit.  I suggest if you have young children you take them for a visit to The Kudzu Children's Museum.  There is much to see and do.

Interesting NC Tidbits...The Town of Buffalo NC is at the Bottom of Lake Lure.

A few weeks ago I took a trip to beautiful Lake Lure located in my state of NC.  Little did I know that there was a town called Buffalo under the Lake Lure waters.   I met a lady at a local restaurant that told me the town remains as it was, completely preserved under the water, an underwater ghost town.  On the Lake Lure pontoon boat adventure I took, I was told that Buffalo was burned to the ground just prior to the flooding. I went online to see what facts I could find about the town of Buffalo. Buffalo was a farming and mining community.  The population was approximately 150 people.  There was a church called Whiteside Valley Church of 1918 that had about 98 members.   The dam was built to generate electricity in the early 1900's, and just after the completion of the dam the town was flooded.    From what I could find online much of the town was torn down and relocated as were parts of the church.  The graves in the small graveyard were relocated as well.  You can r

Restaurant Review...Eddie's on Lake Norman, Mooresville NC

One thing I love about travel is trying new restaurants.  Cindy and I found ourselves on an adventure in the Mooresville NC area near Lake Norman.  There is nothing like enjoying a meal by the water and when we read that Eddie's was on the water we decided to give it a try.  Off we went... Eddie's on Lake Norman Here is a quote from their website. Sadly it did not get the best reviews on Z omato , but for the view and casual dinning I would go back. The staff was friendly and service was good. The Hickory Nut Gift and Antique Shop in Chimney Rock NC

While exploring Lake Lure and the surrounding area I discovered a unique and inviting gift shop.  The name of the shop is  The Hickory Nut .   I drove past this shop several times while exploring the area.  On my final day, I decided I would regret if I did not stop in for a visit. I was glad I did! As you can see from the photos there is something for everyone. From my overview of the shop I found seasonal decorations, plants, home decor, antiques,  crafts, and endless gift items.  The address of the shop is 215 Main St, Chimney Rock, NC 28720.  It is located on the main road between The town of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Village.  The phone number I found for them if you want to check hours is 828-625-2211.
