Travel-Old Mill Farm Durham NC

Image
Join me for my Old Mill Farm Adventure in Durham, NC.  Yes, there are goats on the farm! Looking over the events on their website, I found they have both paid and free events, many with live music.  The day I was there,  Jason Bales  was the musical artist.  There was plenty of seating in which to sit back and enjoy the music. Other animals on the farm. They have both wine and beer for your drink options.  The day I was there, they had food trucks. I could not find very much on the history of Old Mill Farm.  If you go to their website, you will find their hours of operation plus many events and activities planned on the farm. Here is a link to the events page if you would like to take a look Old Mill Farms Home Old Mill Farms Events If you find yourself looking for something to do and live near Durham, NC, I suggest checking out Old Mill Farm.   Happy Travels Kathiey V.

Travel NC- Divine Llama Vineyards and Llama Trekking

Image
I have been talking about visiting  Divine Llama Vineyards  for years.  I knew there were llamas and wine, so it had to be a fun place for a new adventure.  The vineyard is located in East Bend, NC.  This was about a two-hour drive from where I live, so I decided it was close enough for a day trip.  The vineyard was started in 2007. It is Yadkin Valley had they have award-winning wines.  They are situated on 91 acres.   I enjoyed two glasses of Chardonel wine. I had to look up what this was, and this is what I found on Wikipedia. "Chardonel is a late-ripening white wine hybrid grape which can produce a high-quality wine with varietal character. ... It is distinguished by its superior wine quality combined with high productivity and cold hardiness superior to its acclaimed parent Chardonnay." You could see Pilot Mountain from the Vineyard. The Llama's I learned from their website that this is the largest llama farm in the southeast. It was a...

A Visit to Union Point Park in New Bern North Carolina

Image
I discovered a lovely park during my trip to New Bern, North Carolina.  The Union Point Park.  It is on the water, which is where I love to be. Below are a few of my photos along with quotes from Union Point Park websites. "Popular park along the Neuse & Trent Rivers featuring play equipment,  a large gazebo & a boardwalk." New Bern I liked the baby bear sculptures.  I know my grandkids would have loved to climb all over them.  "Union Point Park, which is a scenic six-acre site located at the point of the Neuse and Trent Rivers in historic downtown. The Gazebo – often used for weddings, festivals, and other special events – offers a magnificent and breathtaking view of the waterfront. Enjoy picnics, strolls along the river, a walkway that bridges the Union Point to Bicentennial Park, two boat launches, restroom facilities, picnic tables, a fishing pier, grills, and a small playground" Visit New Bern What a perfect day.  A boat on ...

I became aware of the Lazy 5 Ranch several years ago, and I knew I wanted to take Caleb.  It is drive through or wagon ride through safari park.   Well, the time had come, Caleb and I were on our way to the  Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville NC. Here is a quote from their website.... "The Lazy 5 Ranch strives to have a constantly changing environment by adding new exhibits as  well as increasing the variety of animals seen in the drive through safari areas.  The purpose of the Lazy 5 Ranch is  to educate in an entertaining way, as well as provide an excellent environment for the reproduction  of some of God's most unique creatures."  It is a bit over a two-hour drive from the Raleigh Durham area.  I enjoyed the journey and Caleb is a fantastic travel companion.   Be aware that if you go, they only take cash.  So go prepared.   Caleb is ready with treats for the animals. I think this handsome creatur...
