Wine Wednesday-Let's Visit a NC Winery-tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro NC

Image
It's Wine Wednesday.  Let's visit a local winery.   Tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro, NC. Here is a quote from their website... "Imagine a place where serenity meets exhilaration, modesty meets magnificence, and exclusivity meets affordability." It is about an hour and twenty-minute drive from where I live in West Cary.  I like to drive, especially in the country, so the trip was a joy. Let's head in for a tasting... The tasting room is lovely.  I like the wood and the long bar.  It is a beautiful venue for a wine tasting. The wine tasting cost $20.00.  The range in wine prices that I found online was $24.99-$48.99. Another quote from the site... "This gorgeous facility boasts an all-wood interior that looks and smells amazing.   One cannot help but feel this is the perfect setting to taste new wines."  Here is a list of their wines.  Quote from the site... "Want to stay inside as close to the wine as possible?  Our live music an...

World Market: My Favorite Place to Buy Wine

Image
I enjoy a nice glass of wine.  To me, it is comfort food right up there with coffee. I love to visit wineries, enjoy a tasting and take home a bottle of their wine. There is not always that opportunity to venture off to a winery, and in those times I have a go-to place to stock up on wine, that place is  World Market. There are 13 World Market locations in North Carolina.   They carry wine from all over the world and even some North Carolina Wine. Here is a quote from their website. "Always affordable, our selection of wine, imported beer, champagne, sangria,  cocktails and aperitifs create the perfect wine night or microbrew barbecue". The reason I love World Market for wine is that they have a huge selection and they have incredible sales.  You get a discount if you buy six bottles.  I usually end up getting six bottles for around $55.00.  That is a great price.  I was a member of WineC, and although it was fun to g...

Banner Elk Winery in Banner Elk North Carolina

Image
A year ago my family and I took off for the mountains of North Carolina.  We rented a house near Blowing Rock and Boone for our family vacation. No matter where you find yourself in N.C. you can usually find a winery nearby.  Whenever I travel, I try to visit a new to me wine shop or winery in the area.  This vacation was no exception.  Erica, T-Josh and I took off in search of  Banner Elk Winery  in Banner Elk NC. It was a beautiful drive.  T-Josh was the driver of the evening and took us on some beautiful mountain roads, and with the windows open we breathed in the refreshing mountain air.  Wonderful. We arrived and were greeted by a wooden elk sculpture just outside of the tasting room.  Then we went inside to find some much-needed wine. We each selected our wine and then headed out to enjoy the evening.  We found some nice seats outside overlooking the property took a then took a seat and enjoyed the lovely view.  Here ...
