I was in Raleigh at the State Farmers Market for Watermelon Day, and it was lunchtime.  Not knowing where to eat I asked some of the nice people I encountered what they would suggest.  I was told there were a couple of good lunch choices on the property.  They mentioned the  NC Seafood Restaurant  and  The State Farmers Market Restaurant .  All agreed they were both fantastic. My first experience with  La Farm Bakery  in Cary NC was several years ago.  My daughters decided to take me to La Farm for a Mother's Day adventure. Here is a review of our experience. We drove up to the parking lot and it was packed. A full parking lot is always a good sign.  The bakery is lovely.  It has a welcoming rustic feel. They provide indoor and outdoor seating. Everything looked so good.... Here is a quote from their website "The La Farm Family welcomes you into our shop and into our kitchen,  where we take pleasure in sharing our recipes and our secrets.  Watch us in forming dough, toasting granola, decorating tarte aux fraises.  Then taste our artisan breads, tarts, pastries, sandwiches and  specialty products and experience the taste hundreds of years of French cuisine." On this particular day, I have walked up and down the lovely streets of historic New Bern.  I have photographed churches, Victorian-style homes, and the occasional New Bern Bear.  After all that walking in the hot sun the big question is where I should go to enjoy a nice lunch and cold glass of wine?  I wanted to be on the water, and I had heard the food was good at Persimmons Waterfront Restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. It was Pi (3.14) day March 14, 2018.  Erica called and said, "Mom it is Pi day," and of course I thought she meant pie day, "let's go get some pie."  I said, "sure let's go!"  Of course, she made fun of me when I told her I thought it was pie, not pi.  In my defense, there is a National Pie Day which was Jan. 23rd I just had the wrong date:-) Where should we go to get a slice of pie?  We decided to check out The Pie Hole in Durham.   The Pie Hole  in Durham NC. The Pie Hole was established in 2011 in California and came to Durham 2017. Here is a quote from their website.... "We bake from scratch, by hand, using only the highest quality ingredients. My daughter and I were in the town of Wake Forest and decided to find a restaurant for lunch.  We did not know the lunch options, so we consulted google.  One that popped up and had good reviews, 4/5 stars on Yelp, was  Over the Falls . The restaurant has a nice dining area and a relaxed, casual bar. Here is a quote from their website. ​ "Come Discover Over the Falls in Downtown Wake Forest, NC and our Award Winning Specialty Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Pizza & Wings."  The food was excellent.  Erica and I decided to share a wrap sandwich and get two sides.  The bartender split the wrap and our sides items for us which was very helpful.  If you go I recommend the Bruschetta, it was delicious.  I would order that again.  Check out their  menu here. It's time to try a new restaurant.  I was invited by my friend Cindy to  Town Hall Burger and Beer  in Durham.  Let's go.... After having a look at the menu I decided to get a classic cheeseburger.  Here is their description... " Certified Angus Beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion & choice of cheese served on brioche." I also tried out the fried pickles  with jalapeño ranch. The burger was delicious.  I loved it. Fried pickles were really good too.  The jalapeño ranch was a bit too spicy for me.   I would probably go with plain ranch next time.   Being a wine girl I know very little about beer.  Town Hall seems to have a nice selection of beer.  Here is their list...
