Travel North Carolina-Hiking to a Water Fall A Stroller Friendly Hike near Marion North Carolina. Tom's Creek Falls

Image
North Carolina has a lot to offer.  Two of my favorite places to visit are the mountains and the coast.  If I had to choose, it would always be the mountains.    I went with my daughter and her family to an area near Asheville, NC.  We stayed in a house just outside of Black Mountain. The day we were to return home, we decided we wanted to take a hike.  The big question was what hike we could take that is stroller friendly.  After all, we had two little ones under 2 and a very large double stroller.  As we searched online, we found a suggestion... Tom's Creek Falls in Marion, NC ...1250 Huskins Branch Rd, Marion, NC 28752. I had trouble finding a distance on this trail.  Nearly every site varied, but it is approximately a 0.8-mile round trip.  Luckily for us, it was a short, easy trail that was stroller friendly.  You can make it to the falls overlook by stroller.  If you want to get to the base of the falls, you can, but not with a stroller.  (Josh may look a bit grumpy, but don&

Wine Wednesday-Let's Visit a NC Winery-tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro NC

Image
It's Wine Wednesday.  Let's visit a local winery.   Tunnel Creek Vineyards in Roxboro, NC. Here is a quote from their website... "Imagine a place where serenity meets exhilaration, modesty meets magnificence, and exclusivity meets affordability." It is about an hour and twenty-minute drive from where I live in West Cary.  I like to drive, especially in the country, so the trip was a joy. Let's head in for a tasting... The tasting room is lovely.  I like the wood and the long bar.  It is a beautiful venue for a wine tasting. The wine tasting cost $20.00.  The range in wine prices that I found online was $24.99-$48.99. Another quote from the site... "This gorgeous facility boasts an all-wood interior that looks and smells amazing.   One cannot help but feel this is the perfect setting to taste new wines."  Here is a list of their wines.  Quote from the site... "Want to stay inside as close to the wine as possible?  Our live music and indoor seating

Travel-Old Mill Farm Durham NC

Join me for my Old Mill Farm Adventure in Durham, NC.  Yes, there are goats on the farm! Looking over the events on their website, I found they have both paid and free events, many with live music.  The day I was there,  Jason Bales  was the musical artist.  There was plenty of seating in which to sit back and enjoy the music. Other animals on the farm. They have both wine and beer for your drink options.  The day I was there, they had food trucks. I could not find very much on the history of Old Mill Farm.  If you go to their website, you will find their hours of operation plus many events and activities planned on the farm. Travel-Millstone Creek Orchard in Ramseur NC.

Image
Several years ago, before the Covid Pandemic, I had a strong desire to visit an apple orchard.  Living in the triangle area of NC, I had heard of wonderful orchards in the mountains of NC, but I was not aware of any orchards near me.  I did some research and found an orchard about an hour from me in Ramseur, NC.  I gathered up Caleb and Maggie, and we went on a field trip to  Millstone Creek Orchard. Our first visit in 2019  was just before Covid hit, and we had a blast.  There was a playground area for the kids, a shop with apple-related food and goodies, and a hayride that took us out to see the vineyards where we could pick our own apples. I remember buying some apple cider and some apple cider donuts.  They were both delicious. Caleb was so excited about the donuts; they were fresh from the oven and seemed to melt in your mouth.   Last week Maggie, Caleb, and I were off to visit the zoo.  I knew we would pass by Millstone Creek Orchards, so we decided to stop by on our way home.  W
